Talk about a railroad job. The hiring of the next President of UNR is the champion railroading of all times.
The list of candidates for the Presidency of UNR had been cut to five. In order to make sure the process would result in the selection of Provost Marc Johnson, a very weak candidate, the selection process was rigged and the two strongest applicants, Dr. Stephen Wells of DRI and Dr. Yash Gupta, formerly of Johns Hopkins were cut, leaving three very weak candidates including Johnson. This set up the election of Johnson which will be forthcoming. What a disappointment to have Johnson join the other seven presidents of the Nevada System of Higher Education System, all of whom are world class.
Sounds like the good old boys are still taking care of each other. A classic case of "not what you know, but who you know."
