Four of the seven scheduled meetings of the committee to study the higher education funding formula have been scheduled for dates when the majority, if not all, of Nevada's universities and colleges will be on break. This has the potential to ignore the voices of both faculty and students.
While one must be sensitive to the schedules of professionals who volunteer to serve on this committee, the students and faculty, who will be directly affected by these decisions, must not be ignored. Because the committee does not understand this simple concept, it is very troubling and certainly indicates the committee’s insensitivity and lack of understanding of its purpose.
The scheduled dates of the committee meetings during breaks are: January 11 - May 23 - June 27 - August 15
