Revenue
When one of the three sources of revenue to a
Nevada university dries up, the other two sources must pick up the
slack. State funding has continued to drop and will eventually go to
zero regardless of how successful the
economy becomes. That leaves the bills to be picked up by the students
and research revenue. If you’re starting to see the problem I’m about
to describe you should be more than just a little concerned.
The Silver State needs more than gaming and mining to interest folks in calling it home. We all talk about diversity in people, we now need to push hard for diversity in business. We have lots of wide open spaces, to many commercial buildings that are vacant. What's being done to attract new manufacturing companies?
ReplyDeleteWhen Nevada becomes home to more diverse people and businesses, then pride should build and with that, a deeper concern for education.
Good question to ask Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki.
