Former State Superintendent of Education Jim
Guthrie informed me that after examining the seventeen counties in
Nevada that had problems, Clark County stood alone as the disaster of K
through 12 education. He intended to focus on curing
the Clark County ills. I understand Governor Sandoval supported
Guthrie’s plan to remedy the situation. Guthrie is now gone and it will
be interesting to see what his replacement does. They can change every
part of the structure of the Clark County School
District, but if those changes do not include a complete elimination of
the present governance system, they will have no success.

The big shots will talk, make "promises", maybe form a task force, talk some more, hold lots of meetings, talk, make more promises, hire consultants, talk, have photo ops, hold new conferences, talk, point fingers, play the blame game and pass the buck.
ReplyDeleteYep, that sounds about right and of course the kids and community will continue to suffer and if I were a betting man I'd bet against anything positive happening for a VERY long time. In other words it will be business as usual in the Silver State!
