UNR vs. UNLV

In addition to having more money for buildings, for a professional school, and for "statewide program support," UNR has been able to manipulate some of these funds to cover problems during financial crises which no other school in NSHE has been able to do.  UNR has cut some "statewide programs" in order to lessen the impact on their enrollment producing programs and has moved some positions onto the UNSOM budget.  For many, many years, UNR has been in the political position to have significantly more "non-formula" appropriations than UNLV has ever had.  So no matter how much new attention is being focused on changes to the funding formula--and we support those changes as recently reported in the news--these ancillary areas need attention as well.
