Greg Anthony was the
leader of a national championship basketball team. He’s certainly become an
outstanding sports analyst. However, a pig knows more about calculus than Greg
knows about politics. He has nothing of substance to say about the presidential
race. Why anyone listening to the latest Romney ad would believe that advice
from Greg Anthony would be of any importance is a mystery to me. The presidential
race is not a basketball game.

America’s Financial Problems
I’m immediately suspicious of anyone who claims to
have a simple solution for America’s financial woes. I know of nothing
in Horsford’s history that would indicate he has any knowledge at all
about the fiscal policy of the U.S. Government.
If he has one, I’d like to see it. On the other hand, Tarkanian has
attempted on several occasions to explain his understanding and
solutions of America’s financial problems. I’m less than impressed.
I’d like to see both of these candidates explain their
plans for solving these very serious problems.

Education & Tarkanian/Horsford
Danny Tarkanian, a well-educated attorney (Horsford
never graduated from college) comes from a family whose every action is
rooted in the education system. His mother, Lois, has a Ph.D. in
education and has been as active as anyone I know
in supporting Nevada’s education system. I’m not sure how Danny’s
conservative views line up with his mother’s liberal views. Danny
believes the U.S. Department of Education should be dissolved and the
millions of dollars used to support it should be returned
to all the states. It would have been a great help if Horsford had
talked directly to me in the last five years about his views on
education. I’ve asked him to explain those but until he does so in
writing, I’ll have to assume Tarkanian has been more thoughtful
and analytical in solving these very serious problems.

Met With Horsford
I just finished a one hour conversation with
Steven Horsford and his mentor, Billy Vassiliadis. Both of us knew that philosophically we
agreed on the solution of most of this state’s major problems. I expressed my frustration and concern over
Steven’s past history of not seeking, and obviously not listening to, the
advice of others and not giving others a seat at the table. He assured me that would not happen in the
future. I have my doubts, but I believe
it’s my duty and obligation to provide him the opportunity to prove that his
actions in the future will be different from those in the past.
But given Horsford’s apparent sincerity in
seeking to remedy the one major issue between us, I told him I would be eager
to provide him an opportunity to prove that going forward, his actions would
differ from the past. Therefore, I am
going to send both Horsford and Danny Tarkanian a request that within ten days
they provide me a written analysis of how they would use their power as a
member of the delegation to the U.S. Congress to develop the University of
Nevada Medical School, Dental School and Nursing programs, along with combining
University Medical Center as an entity that will provide medical care to
southern Nevadans comparable to the best care in any community of like size.
Horsford Visit?
As this Tweet is being read at 6:25 this morning, I
am anxiously awaiting the appearance of Steven Horsford, along with his
mentor, at my office at 11:00 a.m. Why he would come to see me is
beyond my comprehension. However, I am more
than eager to listen to his pitch. I’ll let you know what he says.

Steven Horsford & Lobbyists
Lobbyists spent more money wining, dining and sending Horsford on trips than Horsford spent per pupil on Nevada’s classrooms.

Rumors
I hear rumors that Horsford is going to concentrate on gaining the support of Latinos. This is another laugher. If Horsford won’t do anything for the African-American community, why would the Latinos ever believe he would do anything for them?
